Reading
Please continue to read with your child, encouraging them to use their phonics to decode new and unfamiliar words. Its really important to talk about the text and what happens in a story to build up their comprehension skills too.
Writing
We encourage all children to write at home, reinforcing capital letters, finger spaces, full stops, ensuring they apply their phonic knowledge, as well as the use of conjunctions (and, so, but, because) and adjectives to make their writing more interesting to the reader. Children can choose what they would like to write about with the focus on the quality of the sentences and their handwriting.
Maths
At home you can continue to work through the White Rose Maths home learning videos to practise and revisit mathematical concepts. These are great to show the different strategies you can use to support Place Value, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division.
In addition, the White Rose Maths 1-Minute Maths is a fantastic App you can download for free to practise your mathematics at home.

Spellings
Continue to work on spelling all the common exception words for both Year 1 and Year 2.
